January 2012 Update
This January I fired my latest pot with great success. This is one of the first large pots I've been able to fire that has not come out of the fire with any hairline cracks. The pot is completely solid. The only things I can think of that I did differently with this pot is that: 1) it was one or two millimeters thicker than normal and 2) I allowed it to dry for several weeks before firing it.
